YOUTH GROUP STYLE! Woot woot! On Friday my youth group held their annual Big Kahuna Luau where everyone was supposed to dress tropical (Lots of people had leis on, but that was about their extent of Hawaiian-ness....I was head to to Tropical, thank you very much.) and we barbequed shish kabobs that we made. An in amoungst eating and playing games we had a Fear Factor competition. It was limited to 10 participants only and I went up to be apart of it.
Task #1: American Gladiators.
You know the show where they beat each other with giant q-tips? Yep! We did that! They set up chairs in the volleyball court and we had to stand on them with our giant ear cleaner and faced off against either Jason (Our Youth leader who is a pretty big guy) or Curt...And the top four teens to stay on the longest got to advance to the next round....I stayed on the VERY longest! A whopping 15 seconds! And because I had the best time I got to choose the order that we went in for the next event.
Task #2: The Food Competition.
Only Stephen, Nicole, Dianne, and myself remained...And we knew the next part was food...We were all told to stand on one side of a table (The "Audience" was on the other side) and as we were standing there, Jason brings out a big pan of wet noodles..."Mixed in with these wet noodles are raw pickled pigs feet! You are to dig out four good size pigs feet with your mouth only! NO hands! And after you are finished with that, you are to drink a glass of CLAM JUICE! ... Pigs feet and clam juice can be found at your local Safeway." Jason announces. When I heard the word "Raw" I turned to Jason and asked, "Am I going to die?" and he replies, "You'll just have to wash your mouth out afterwards..." and then I turn to Mindy and say, "Yeah...But will I die?" lol. I picked Stephen to go first...He pulled out the pigs feet, but wasn't able to finish his clam juice (Nearly started to puke...Hee hee.) So, he was eliminated. Then I had Nicole go next. She finished, but was spilling part of her clam juice as she was drinking it. Then I went....Finished but was a mess...Oh gross...Noodles were sticking all over me. Ew. ....Wasn't as bad as I had anticipated, but I was kinda slow...Then Dianne went and I knew I was done for because Dianne is a beast (A good thing. I love Dianne!) and she wasn't going to have ANY problem doing any of it. BUT while she was pulling out the pigs feet she knocked over her glass of clam juice....So she wasn't able to finish, but it wasn't her fault...So they let ALL three of us proceed to the next task! Woot!
Task #3: Final task!
For the final task, we were handcuffed (To ourselves, not to each other. We did this individually) and we had to run across the volleyball court with a roll of duct tape in between our knees, then once we passed the court, we dropped the tape and ran across the parking lot to the grassy knoll where there was a tub of water and the key to the handcuffs at the bottom of the water (Which, of course, we had to fish out with our heads.) Nicole finished but has a phobia of water, so it took her awhile...Dianne finished but she couldn't keep the tape between her knees (And if you dropped it you had to run back to the start and begin again) But I finished without hardly any troubles (I did try to breathe AS I was going underwater, which didn't quite work, so I kinda started to choke, but I recovered quickly. Fastest time wone.
Nicole --- 2 Minutes 56 Seconds
Dianne --- 1 Minute 29 Seconds
Me --- 51 SECONDS!
And being the winner, I won $50 to the Christian Supply store ($10 I gave to Dianne and $10 to Nicole).
I really didn't expect to win, I just wanted to participate. But it was SO much fun! I would do it over again in a heartbeat even if I hadn't won. If anyone has the chance to partake in something like that, DO!
I hope everyone is well! God bless,
Jennifer
P.S. Oh yeah, my compy is better now!
