Hi Hello!!!
I'm home from camp! Ok...I've been home for a few days...I'm terrible...But I had the most spectacular time! There's so many stories to tell...So I'm just going to plunge right into it. I stayed in the "Racoon Hollow" Cabin....Yes, I do know that raccoon has two C's....But the sign on the cabin only has one! hee hee.
So, for the duration at camp, we were placed into eight teams (my team was named the Philly Cheesesteaks!) and we competed in games and Bible quizzing to win points for our team. On Thursday, my team was #1 for the Bible quizzing (Go Cheesesteaks!) and when all the points were tallied up, my team was #2 with 3,890 points! ("The Anonymous" was in 1st place with 3,940...That's right! They only beat us by 50 points!) So, one of the games we played was Life Size Clue....(Yep...Just like the board game). It was SOOO tiring....You and your group had to run to the middle of the camp to get your piece of paper that said where for you to go...Then you went there...Asked the person there a question (They couldn't tell you who did it or with what but they could tell you who it wasn't and stuff like that...) And then once you got that answered, you had to run back to the middle and get a new location...And do that until you knew Who Did it, With what, Where, and the motive! But of course, we couldn't just get the answers...The people we asked the questions too had to stall some too...And they even made us do some things before they would give us an answer. So Anastasia said she'd answer our question but we first had to name 3 countries that started with the letter Z (Zambabwee, Zambia, and New Zealand). And then she asked for a boy and girl volunteer....So Alex (Who was very nice...He's originally from here, but now lives in Mexico because his parents are missionaries there) volunteered and I volunteered and Anastasia points to Alex and says, "You have to say to her...That if she were a booger, you'd pick her..." hee hee...So he looks at me all sincere and says, "If you were a booger..." lol. It made me laugh.
I made alot of new friends...And one kid I even knew and I didn't know it! I met him (His name is Dale and he's soon to be 14)....And then we both found out that we were from the same town! Coolness! And then that night I thought about it and I was like, "Wait a minute!!!" and so I went up to him the next day and asked him if he had been to the Marshall McLean/Nate Mullens concert that was at Sutton park last summer...And he says, "Sutton park...Wait...Wait....Was I on crutches???" and I say, "YES!!" and then he says, "No wonder you look so familiar!" We had talked at the concert!! He's a way cool kid. And now he's coming to my youth group. Woot!
Thursday night we had a pillow fight in the playing field...Not only did we have a pillow fight at night...But we had strobe lights as well!!! It was AMAZING! And then after the pillow fight we had a Balloon Pop....So everyone blew up a balloon and tied it to their ankle...And the last person standing won 600 points for their team! Sad to say, I got out within the first 5 seconds...But that was ok, because all of us "losers" danced in the strobe lights...We decided that was cooler than winning. Then it came down to two people Janelle of the Philly Cheesesteaks and Sam of the Anonymous....And they were in there a long time trying to pop each others balloons....And all of a sudden, they start ballroom dancing with each other!!! I laughed so hard! So they called it a draw and each team got 300 points!
One of the lessons for the day (I think it was Tuesday...Maybe Wednesday...I can't remember) was to not be jealous of what someone else has, but be happy for them that God has blessed them with it....And we all got that message....And I think it will stick with us forever...Especially since we were joking about it later....Like...For example (Not sure if this EXACTLY happened...But it might have...) Casi got the hiccups....And I said, "I'm not jealous of your hiccups...I'm happy for you!" lol. We had a great laugh with that....BUT the point is that it stuck with us! Another thing that will stick with us is what Bryant (Who was awesome!! (even if he didn't remember my name...He wrote "Liz" on my shirt...And when I caught him on it he was like, "WHAT?!? WHAT?!?!....It was funny) That kid is so nice and funny! He wore a foam flower sticker in his hair every day of camp!) said at the bonfire Friday night....He said that during the week he realized that he was a cup...And God is the bottomless well...And not only do you need to fill your cup with God, but you need to help fill other peoples cups. And we were all very impressed with him saying that.
Friday morning, one of the counselors stood up for the announcements and he says, "You know what? During Primary Camp, every day we have a 30 minute nap time....We're going to take a mandatory 30 minute nap today!" and EVERYONE jumped up and cheered and once we settled down he says, "Wow...I expected the counselors to do that...Not the campers!" lol.
We were taught a song while we were there....I can't tell you what tune it goes to because I don't know what it's called, but I know you've all heard it....Gr...Anyways, IT's called "I Like God" and it goes like this.
I like God...
I like the way he made my bod!
And if you tell me I'm ugly...
You're gonna TICK HIM OFF.
Hee hee! We all sang that the WHOLE time were were there. It's pretty much the best song ever.
Well, I suppose that's enough to sustain you for now. hee hee. I hope you all have a wonderful week! I missed you loads and loads!!!
Love,
Jenn
